How we embroider your merchandise

All of our merchandise is made in our studio in Glasgow, Scotland. Every piece is uniquely produced and hand-checked by Mack & Rose founder Katy. Feel free to visit us in our studio located a 10-minute walk from Glasgow Central Station. Our founder Katy has been working with vintage clothing and fashion for over 9 years. She handles every project herself and is your point of contact when starting an embroidery project.

It does not matter if you have an existing idea for your merchandise or if you would like to develop an idea with us. You can choose if you would like us to source vintage or organic garments for your merchandise or if you would like to source/provide garments yourself. You should check with us before you do so to make sure your garments meet our quality standards.

The process: 

1. Initial meeting & quote: We will meet up (virtually or in person) to see if we are suitable partners to start a project. We will discuss the first ideas to see what garments we could use and where we would source them, which designs we would use and any other ideas you have for your embroidered merchandise.
2. Planning: If you decide to go ahead with us we will start planning out your merchandise, talk to our suppliers to get prices, and provide you with a quote for your project. If we agree on the terms we will move on to step 3.
3. Production: We will source the garments according to our plan and will apply the custom designs agreed on previously.
4. Delivering merchandise: Your embroidered merchandise is ready! You can either pick it up in our studio or we will send it out to you. We can post your merchandise across the UK.

What is embroidery?

Embroidery is a craft that involves decorating fabric using a needle and thread. People can also add materials like pearls, beads, quills, or sequins. Nowadays, you often see embroidery on things like caps, hats, coats, blankets, shirts, denim, dresses, stockings, scarves, and golf shirts. It comes in many colours and is commonly used to personalise gifts or clothing.

The basic techniques of early embroidery include chain stitch, buttonhole or blanket stitch, running stitch, satin stitch, and cross-stitch. These stitches are still the essential methods used in hand embroidery today. Thankfully embroidery has come a long way since early hand embroidery. There are many different styles and techniques that are still used today. At Mack and Rose we specialise in digital embroidery
