At Mack and Rose, we are committed to reducing pollution and minimising our environmental impact. With sustainability as one of our core values we are dedicated to creating all our merchandise from recycled or eco-friendly materials.
We aim to raise more awareness of the environmental impact the fashion industry has. We educate businesses and individuals on making informed decisions on where and how to source environmentally friendly clothes.
Here are some facts about the impact fashion has on our environment
Producing a cotton T-shirt takes up to 2.720 litres of water and a jeans uses about 10.850 litres.
Our sustainability commitment
With sustainability as one of our core values, we aim to minimise our environmental footprint and contribute to a healthier planet. We have listed some ways how we aim to achieve that below.
Finding creative solutions
Every of our projects is bespoke and together with our client we work out a plan and design tailored to their needs. We preferably work with recycled clothes which makes every single piece a bit unique and sparks our creativity in terms of the design we use.
We will brainstorm ideas and together with you we find a solution that is good for the environment and your business.
Reforestation
For every 50 items sold, we plant one tree with the help of One Tree Planted. Trees are one of the most important storages of CO2 and deforestation is one of the biggest threats to our environment. Therefore we decided to contribute towards the reforestation of our forests.
Using recycled materials
Our aim is to use recycled garments and materials where possible. Recycling clothes can lower the environmental impact by 70 times and only requires 0.01% of the water used for new clothing.
Recycling fabric scraps
All of our leftover fabrics are recycled and sent to First Mile where they become part of new garments.
Using organic cotton
If we don't use recycled materials for your projects we will use garments made from organic cotton. Using organic cotton is less harmful to the environment than non-organic cotton:
26% Less potential for soil erosion
46% Less impact on global warming
70% Less acidification of land and water
91% Less water consumption
Working with certified suppliers
We work with suppliers, that have certain certifications which ensure sustainable practices. Their certifications include:
The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) was developed by leading standard setters to define world-wide recognised requirements for organic textiles. From the harvesting of the raw materials, environmentally and socially responsible manufacturing to labelling, textiles certified to GOTS provide a credible assurance to the consumer.
The Organic Content Standard (OCS) is a voluntary global standard that sets the criteria for third-party certification of organic materials and chain of custody. ()
The Global Recycled Standard (GRS) sets the criteria for third-party certification of recycled materials and chain of custody. The GRS includes a 50% minimum recycled content percentage and additional social and environmental requirements related to processing and chemical use.
OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 is one of the world's best-known labels for textiles tested for harmful substances. It stands for customer confidence and high product safety. Find out here what STANDARD 100 means and why it is worth checking for this label when buying textiles.
Peta-Approved is a certification by PETA verifying that no animals were harmed throughout the product development and the production itself. Peta-approved materials are 100% vegan.

Got a cute picture of our cat embroidered in a few items for my partner. Looks amazing, really high quality work, and a very reasonable price. Would definitely recommend Mack & Rose if you're looking for custom embroidery - it makes for a lovely and personal gift!
